Pre-Demolition Evaluation & Monitoring
Tadco performs demolition monitoring for commercial and residential units, from the pre-demolition evaluation process all the way through to leveling.
Why Would I Need A Pre-Demolition Inspection?
Before a demolition, an inspection is a necessary risk assessment in identifying any hazardous environmental contaminants. Some of the most harmful contaminants we look for are:
- PCBs (Polychlorinated biphenyl)
- Asbestos
- Lead
- Radiation
- Petroleum
This analysis also helps identify the scope of work needed to conduct the demolition.
Tadco’s Pre-Demolition Process:
1. Identifying and Classifying Waste:
We start by identifying and classifying both hazardous and non-hazardous waste at the site.
2.Collecting Samples:
Our team takes soil and groundwater samples from the site to assess the condition and identify any potential environmental concerns.
3. Handling Hazardous Solid Waste:
If hazardous waste is found, our trained professionals will determine the best approach for remediation (cleanup) and disposal to ensure safety.
4. Addressing Risks to Adjacent Properties:
During demolition, nearby properties, especially in densely populated neighborhoods, may be at risk. If there’s any potential impact on these properties before demolition begins, we will:
- Perform foundation shoring design to protect surrounding buildings.
- Seek approval for the design.
- Implement the shoring to ensure safety.
5. Pre-Demolition Report:
After our inspection, we prepare a pre-demolition report, which includes:
- Information about the condition of the existing building and surrounding site.
- Any environmental issues or contaminants we found onsite.
